Alice Ogden-Nussbaum

Alice Ogden-Nussbaum became enamored with martial arts of all kinds as a child watching old school action movies on TV on Sunday afternoons, but it wasn't until she joined an after school capoeira club in high school that her love affair began. Since then, she's had brief encounters with kendo, taekkyeon, boxing, and muay thai, and more seriously started taekwondo in 2013.

Her first formal encounter with JiuJitsu was in 2015 at the Yonsei University JiuJitsu club under John Frankel while studying abroad in Seoul, South Korea. After returning from her semester abroad, she trained informally with friends, until joining Foundations in 2017. Since then she is proud to have received both blue and purple belts from instructors Mike, Mat, and Arun.

Alice strongly believes in the power of martial arts as much more than just systems for self defense and fighting. She believes in its importance as a tool in growing your own mental and physical strength, as well as a way to build and protect a community. She does her best to use her time in the gym to foster a welcoming and supportive space, where teammates can help each other improve and grow.
